Description

The 50WCE030 is a nominal 2.5-ton vertical water source heat pump built for buildings that use a shared water loop or geothermal exchange as the heat source/sink. The big advantage in practice is zoning: each space can call for heating or cooling independently, which is why WSHPs show up in multifamily retrofits, small offices, and property-managed portfolios. This platform uses R-454B refrigerant in its sealed refrigerant circuit.

This specific SKU is a right-return, top-discharge configuration with side filter access and front-left water connections, supporting tight mechanical spaces where consistent connection geometry reduces surprises. It includes a coated air coil option and a cupronickel coaxial water heat exchanger selection, both aimed at longer-term resilience when environmental conditions are less forgiving. It also includes an A2L leak detection package, and its sound/IAQ option set includes a compressor blanket plus closed-cell foam insulation.

For buyers comparing sizes, published AHRI/ANSI 13256-1 tables show the ECM category for size 030 at 28,000 BTU/h cooling and 34,000 BTU/h heating under water-loop rated conditions. As always with WSHPs, the loop temperature range and airflow/static pressure targets are what separate a “works on paper” selection from a “comfortable in the field” result. Confirm operating limits and minimum flow expectations with the loop design.

Key Features

  • Nominal 2.5-ton vertical WSHP: supports zone comfort in boiler/tower, geothermal, and hybrid loop building designs.

  • Right return / top discharge airflow pattern: built for vertical closet layouts where return side matters for duct transitions.

  • Constant torque ECM blower option: ECM-based fan platform designed for stable performance as external static pressure changes.

  • R-454B refrigerant circuit elements: includes TXV metering and integral pressure ports for service diagnostics.

  • Coated air coil option (selected): additional protection for the air coil in corrosive airstream environments.

  • Cupronickel water heat exchanger option (selected): corrosion-focused selection for more demanding loop water conditions.

  • Sound/IAQ + A2L leak detection package (selected): compressor blanket and closed-cell foam, plus leak detection for A2L safety requirements.
