The Brand Story
Fire Sense: The Brand That Keeps People Outside a Little Longer
Picture a restaurant patio on a cool evening. The food is still coming, the conversation is good, and someone pulls a jacket tighter. Then a tall steel heater by the railing clicks on, its dome throwing a warm circle across the tables, and nobody has to go inside after all. That small moment, repeated on decks, terraces and backyards for more than a quarter century, is the whole idea behind Fire Sense.
Chapter 1 · 1998
A name built around outdoor warmth
Fire Sense has been selling outdoor heating products since 1998. Over the years it grew from patio heaters into a broad catalog of things that make an outdoor space usable after dark or out of season: gas and electric patio heaters, fire pits, patio fireplaces, torches and, indoors, electric fireplaces.
The brand belongs to the Well Traveled Living family of home and outdoor products, under the company Well Traveled Imports. Like many outdoor living brands, Fire Sense designs its products in the United States and has them manufactured in several countries around the world.
Chapter 2 · The craft
Heat you can stand next to
Outdoor heat is a different problem from indoor heat. There are no walls to hold it, and the wind is always trying to carry it away. That is why the classic mushroom-shaped patio heater works the way it does: a propane or natural gas burner sits at the top of a tall post, and a reflector dome pushes radiant heat down onto the people below rather than up into the night sky. Fire Sense builds these in several finishes, including stainless steel and powder-coated models, and smaller tabletop versions that bring the same idea to a bistro table.
Fire pits answer a different need. They are less about warming a crowd than giving it a center. Gas fire pits offer a flame at the turn of a knob and no ash to clean up, while wood-burning pits deliver the crackle and smoke of a real campfire. Glass wind guards keep a gas flame steady on a breezy evening, and fitted vinyl covers protect burners, igniters and finishes between uses, which matters a great deal in a humid, salty coastal climate.
The Lineup
What Fire Sense builds today
Fire Sense covers outdoor heating from the tabletop to the full backyard. HVAC365 carries a selection of its fire pits, patio heaters and the accessories that keep them working:
- Fire pits: gas models such as the 55,000 BTU Clayton square aluminum fire pit, which runs on propane or natural gas, and the 37,000 BTU Hendricks round aluminum propane fire pit.
- Square and rectangular fire pits: the Clayton and Stonemont squares and others that pair easily with outdoor seating, along with tempered glass wind guards for rectangular propane pits.
- Round fire pits: the Degano and Hendricks rounds and a 27.5-inch round fire pit with a copper rail.
- Wood-burning fire pits: the Foxdale square, for those who want real logs and real embers.
- Patio heaters: a stainless steel tabletop patio heater, an adjustable patio heater table, and fitted vinyl covers for standard and full-length flame heaters.
A few practical notes come with any gas outdoor heater. Propane models run from a standard tank tucked into the base, while natural gas models connect to a fixed gas line and should be installed by a qualified professional. Every unit needs the overhead and side clearances listed in its manual, and none of them are meant for enclosed spaces.
