Description

The 50WCE048 is a nominal 4-ton vertical water source heat pump built for zoned heating and cooling when a building uses a water loop or geothermal exchange. WSHP designs are frequently used in larger multifamily and light commercial settings because they allow each zone to condition independently while sharing the benefits of a managed loop temperature. The refrigerant platform is R-454B, aligning with current lower-GWP refrigerant transition trends.

This model is configured as right return with top discharge, in a vertical cabinet with side filter access and front-left water connections. It also includes a high-spec resilience package: coated air coil selection for additional air-coil protection, cupronickel coaxial water heat exchanger selection for corrosion resistance, and an A2L leak detection package for added safety coverage. For comfort and occupant perception, it includes a compressor blanket plus closed-cell foam insulation selection intended to reduce noise transmission.

On published AHRI/ANSI 13256-1 performance tables, the ECM category for size 048 is listed at 47,400 BTU/h cooling and 53,300 BTU/h heating at water-loop rated conditions, with rated airflow and loop flow shown in the same table. Since loop temperature and static pressure can swing widely by building, verify those conditions before ordering to keep the system balanced and predictable. Also note that larger sizes can change connection sizing and cabinet mass, which can matter for replacement planning.

Key Features

  • Nominal 4-ton vertical water source heat pump: zone-focused heating/cooling for water loop or geothermal system designs.

  • Right-return, top-discharge vertical layout: supports vertical mechanical closets and straightforward supply discharge paths.

  • Sound/IAQ option set (selected): compressor blanket plus closed-cell foam insulation for quieter operation characteristics.

  • Stainless drain pan + overflow shutoff behavior: corrosion-resistant condensate management with protective lockout logic.

  • Coated air coil option (selected): additional corrosion protection option for the air-side coil.

  • Cupronickel coaxial heat exchanger (selected): higher corrosion resistance selection for demanding loop water quality.

  • A2L leak detection package (selected): supports A2L safety requirements where stricter standards apply.
