In 2020, as the pandemic kept families at home and backyard pools saw more use than ever, pool professionals still needed something unglamorous and constant: clean replacement filter cartridges that fit. That year a distribution company in South Carolina opened a plant in the small town of Manning devoted to one thing, pool and spa filtration. It called the new operation OnCore Filtration.
OnCore Filtration is a division of On Time Distribution, known in the trade as OTD. It was established in 2020, at the start of the COVID pandemic, with its first facility in Manning, South Carolina dedicated entirely to pool and spa filtration. Since then the operation has grown to more than 150,000 square feet, with the flagship manufacturing plant in Manning and a supporting warehouse and distribution center in nearby Timmonsville.
OnCore runs what it calls a dual-manufacturing strategy. OnCore Filtration USA assembles cartridges in South Carolina from domestic and global components. OnCore Atlas is its global manufacturing platform, producing elements in partner facilities overseas to OnCore's own specifications and quality controls. The company aims its products squarely at service professionals and dealers rather than at the retail shelf, and it has also partnered with TEAM USA Artistic Swimming.
An OnCore cartridge starts with spunbond polyester media with a high filament count, pleated around an injection-molded core. Break-resistant bands hold the pleats at even spacing so dirt loads evenly across the full surface, and the ends are sealed with a urethane end-cap system formulated to resist chlorine and mildew. The company offers both traditional media and antimicrobial media, the latter intended to help limit bacterial growth on the filter between cleanings. Each element carries its own OnCore part number, cross-referenced to the original equipment it replaces.
Those details matter in daily service. A cartridge is cleaned by hosing debris out from between the pleats, and every cleaning flexes the media and stresses the end caps. Pleats that stay evenly spaced rinse cleaner, and caps that resist chlorine hold their seal longer, which stretches the time between replacements. When the media looks matted, the bands have slipped or the caps have cracked, the cartridge has reached the end of its working life.
OnCore's range includes point-bond and flat-bond pool and spa cartridges, universal and Purex-style DE grids, inflatable pool cartridges and named lines such as EverClear, EverFlow and EverBrite. HVAC365 carries its replacement filter cartridges:
All of them belong to our broader filters and sanitizers range for pool and spa service.
