The Brand Story

Olmo: A Mini Split Brand With a Doral Address

Drive west from Miami International Airport into Doral and the landscape turns into warehouses: long, low buildings with loading docks, box trucks and forklifts moving pallets for the rest of the hemisphere. On one of those blocks, on NW 113th Court, sits the address behind Olmo. It is a fitting place for a ductless brand whose customers live in the same heat and humidity that makes air conditioning in South Florida less a comfort than a necessity.

Chapter 1 · Since 1999

Two decades in heating and cooling

Olmo describes itself as a company that specializes in air conditioning and heating products, and says its experience in the field goes back to 1999. Its catalog covers ductless mini splits in single-zone and multi-zone configurations, multi-position air handlers, monoblock units and through-the-wall systems. The company says it sells in more than 50 countries.

The brand's stated priorities are practical ones: equipment that is affordable, quiet and energy-saving, with in-house technical support and a warranty that depends on installation by a licensed HVAC technician.

Chapter 2 · The Comfortside connection

How Olmo reaches the trade

In the United States, Olmo is distributed exclusively by Comfortside, LLC, a Doral wholesaler of ducted and ductless air conditioning founded in 2015. Comfortside is also the proprietary dealer for the Cooper&Hunter and BRAVO brands, which makes Olmo part of a small family of mini split nameplates that share a distribution network, technical support channel and warehouse base in Miami-Dade County.

That structure is common in the ductless world, where the brand on the cabinet and the company that services the market are often not the same. What matters to an installer is that parts, documentation and technical help come from a known, reachable place, and Olmo's is a phone call away in Doral.

The Lineup

What Olmo builds today

Olmo's range runs from compact single-room systems to multi-zone heat pumps that serve a whole house from one outdoor unit. The equipment uses inverter compressors, which ramp speed up and down instead of cycling on and off, and Olmo rates its heat pumps for heating in temperatures as low as -13°F. HVAC365 carries the Sierra series:

The Next Chapter

R-32 and R-454B

Olmo's current catalog is built around two lower-GWP refrigerants, R-32 and R-454B, both of which replace R-410A in new equipment. Both are classified A2L, or mildly flammable, so installers use A2L-rated tools and follow the manufacturer's charging and leak-check procedures. Because the two refrigerants are different, every indoor unit in a multi-zone system has to be approved for the outdoor unit it connects to; always confirm the refrigerant and compatibility list on the outdoor unit's documentation before building a system.
