The Brand Story

ProStat: Plain-Spoken Thermostats for Everyday Systems

Every heating and cooling system, no matter how efficient, takes its orders from a small box on the wall. When that box fails or the system changes, a contractor needs a thermostat that wires up cleanly, reads clearly across a room and does not ask the homeowner to learn a new language. ProStat thermostats are built for exactly that job: straightforward controls for conventional systems, offered in programmable and non-programmable versions.

The Lineup

What ProStat makes

The ProStat models HVAC365 carries cover the two most common thermostat jobs in homes and small businesses:

  • Programmable thermostats: a 7-day programmable model with an LED display that controls up to two stages of heat and one stage of cooling, with optional Wi-Fi for remote control.
  • Non-programmable thermostats: the ProStat 3000, a single-stage heat and single-stage cool model for systems where a fixed setpoint is all that is needed.

A Closer Look

Reading a thermostat label

Thermostat descriptions follow a simple code. "1 heat / 1 cool" means one stage of each: the furnace or heat pump is either on or off, and so is the air conditioner. "2 heat / 1 cool" adds a second heating stage, used by two-stage furnaces or by heat pumps with backup electric heat, so the system can run gently most of the time and bring on full output only on the coldest days. Before replacing any thermostat, count the stages your equipment has and check whether a common wire (C) is available, since connected and backlit models often need constant power.

A 7-day programmable thermostat lets each day of the week run its own schedule, which suits households and offices whose occupancy changes from weekday to weekend. A non-programmable model holds one setpoint until someone changes it, which is often the right choice for rentals, utility rooms and spaces where simplicity matters more than scheduling.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about ProStat thermostats

What kinds of systems are ProStat thermostats for?

ProStat thermostats are for conventional heating and cooling systems, with models for single-stage heat and cool and for two stages of heat with one stage of cooling.

What does 2 heat / 1 cool mean?

It means the thermostat can control two stages of heating, such as a two-stage furnace or a heat pump with backup heat, and one stage of cooling.

Does the ProStat programmable thermostat have Wi-Fi?

The 7-day programmable ProStat model offers optional Wi-Fi for remote control.

Should I choose a programmable or non-programmable thermostat?

A programmable thermostat runs a schedule for each day of the week, while a non-programmable model holds one setpoint until changed. Non-programmable models suit rentals and utility spaces where simplicity matters most.
