Lift the cover on a hot tub at the end of a long week and the water tells you everything. If it is clear, odorless and soft on the skin, someone has been doing the quiet maintenance work. If it is cloudy or smells of chemicals, something in the treatment chain is falling behind. UltraPure ozone generators were built for that chain, adding a powerful oxidizer to the water every time the circulation system runs.
Ozone is a form of oxygen with three atoms instead of two. That extra atom makes it unstable and eager to react, so it breaks down oils, organic waste and many microorganisms that end up in spa water. An ozone generator makes ozone from air inside a small sealed cabinet and feeds it into the spa plumbing, usually through an injector in the circulation line. Once it has done its work, ozone reverts to ordinary oxygen, which is why it leaves no residue behind.
Because ozone works in the plumbing and does not linger in the tub, spa owners typically still keep a residual sanitizer in the water. What ozone changes is the workload: water that is oxidized continuously tends to stay clearer and needs less chemical correction.
UltraPure's spa ozonators are sold as direct replacements and service units for hot tub equipment packs. HVAC365 carries the BFO3 family:
When replacing an ozonator, match the voltage, cord style and plug type to the original unit and the spa control. Find related products in filters and sanitizers.
It makes ozone from air and injects it into the spa's circulation line, where it oxidizes oils, organic waste and many microorganisms before reverting to oxygen.
Not entirely. Ozone works in the plumbing and does not remain in the tub, so spa owners typically keep a reduced level of residual sanitizer in the water.
Both are UltraPure spa ozonators. The BFO3 version here is a 120V unit with a NEMA plug, while the BFO3+ Spa+ uses a NEMA 4-prong plug and is rated for 120V or 240V systems.
Match the voltage, cord and plug type of the unit you are replacing and confirm it fits your spa control pack before installation.
