Electric Heat Strips

Electric heat strips are auxiliary heating components used in HVAC systems to provide supplemental or primary electric heating. They are commonly installed inside air handlers, heat pump systems, and package units to deliver additional warmth when outdoor temperatures drop or when extra heating capacity is required.

These heating elements work by using electrical resistance coils to generate heat, which is then distributed through the ductwork to warm indoor spaces efficiently and consistently.

What you’ll find here

  • Electric heat strip kits for air handlers and package units
  • Single-stage and multi-stage heating elements
  • Replacement heat kits for HVAC systems
  • High-capacity auxiliary heating strips
  • Compatibility kits for heat pump backup heating
  • Residential and light commercial heating solutions

How to choose

  • Match heat strip capacity (kW rating) with system size and space requirements
  • Verify compatibility with your air handler or package unit model
  • Ensure correct voltage (typically 240V or as required by system)
  • Choose staged heating for better energy efficiency and comfort control
  • Confirm breaker size and electrical service compatibility
  • Consider climate conditions to determine required heating capacity
  • Follow manufacturer specifications for installation and safety

When Electric Heat Strips Are Used

  • As backup heating for heat pump systems in cold weather
  • As primary heating in areas without gas supply
  • For supplemental heat during extreme temperature drops
  • In commercial HVAC systems requiring consistent heating support

FAQ

What are electric heat strips?
They are electrical heating elements installed in HVAC systems to produce warm air for indoor heating.

Do heat pumps need heat strips?
Not always, but they are often used as backup heating during very cold temperatures.

Are electric heat strips energy efficient?
They are effective but typically consume more electricity than heat pumps or gas heating.

Can heat strips be added to any system?
No. They must be compatible with the specific air handler or package unit.

Do they require professional installation?
Yes. Proper electrical setup and safety configuration are required for safe operation.

HVAC365 provides high-quality electric heat strips designed for reliable supplemental heating, system compatibility, and dependable HVAC performance in all weather conditions.
