80,000 BTU downflow gas furnaces built for residential and light commercial installations. This category covers mid-capacity units that fit tight spaces, crawlspaces, and installations where upflow doesn't work. Contractors stock these for fast turnarounds on replacement jobs and new builds.

  • Mid-range BTU output handles most residential single-family homes and small multi-unit properties
  • Downflow design pulls return air from above, discharges heated air below—ideal for slab, basement, and cramped mechanical rooms
  • Efficient combustion and blower operation cuts utility callbacks and improves seasonal performance ratings
  • Standard ductwork compatibility with residential trunk-and-branch systems
  • AHRI-certified models qualify for rebate programs and builder specifications
  • Professional-grade controls for easy field diagnostics and service

Q: What's the difference between 80,000 BTU and higher BTU downflow furnaces?

A: 80K units match homes between 1,500–2,500 sq ft in moderate climates. Oversizing runs short-cycle issues and waste fuel. Undersizing creates cold spots. Right-size always. This capacity fits the majority of residential retrofit jobs without excess.

Q: Can I install an 80K downflow furnace in any basement or crawlspace?

A: Downflow requires clearance below the unit for discharge ductwork and airflow. Check your return air path—downflow pulls from above, so you need return access at ceiling height or a return plenum routed there. Verify duct sizing and static pressure before commit. Field-fit issues cost time.
