Description
C&D Valve Refrigerant Locking Cap | 1/4" Flare A2L Red Anodized Refrigerant Locking Cap - 2 Pack | CD2290R/2
The C&D Valve CD2290R/2 is a 2-pack of red anodized locking caps for 1/4-inch flare access ports on A2L systems. The red aluminum shell marks the system as charged with a mildly flammable A2L refrigerant such as R-454B or R-32, and the locking design keeps anyone without the right tool out of the refrigerant circuit.
Inside the red shell is a brass cap that seals the port. Once installed, the outer shell spins freely, so the cap can’t be twisted off by hand or with pliers; it comes off with a C&D locking cap tool such as the CD3830 locking cap driver, sold separately. Locking caps on outdoor service ports are required by the International Mechanical Code and International Residential Code.
Key Features

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are locking caps required?
The IMC (1101.10) and IRC (M1411.6) require refrigerant access ports outside a building to be protected from unauthorized access, which locking caps do.
What tool removes them?
A C&D locking cap tool, such as the CD3830 locking cap driver, which is sold separately.
Which refrigerants are they for?
They are made for A2L systems such as R-454B and R-32; the red color signals A2L refrigerant.
