The Brand Story

HIDE: Making the Skimmer Lid Disappear

A pool designer can spend months choosing the perfect stone for a deck, only to have the finished view interrupted by a round plastic skimmer lid. An Australian company called HIDE decided that lid did not have to be seen at all. Its kits let builders set the same paver or stone as the surrounding deck into a stainless steel lid, so the skimmer access blends into the patio and only someone holding the key knows where it is.

Chapter 1 · Australia

An inlay instead of a lid

HIDE Skimmer Lids is an Australian company. Its idea is simple: rather than offering a lid in a few colors, give the builder a stainless steel frame and inlay tray that can be filled with the project's own decking material, along with an edge protector that keeps the surrounding coping from chipping. The finished lid can only be lifted with a special key, which keeps curious children and guests out of the skimmer. In 2019 the product was named Best New Pool Building Product at the International Pool, Spa and Patio awards. The same approach now extends to access covers and drains around pools, patios and landscapes.
