Sacramento summers are long, hot and dry, the kind that make a backyard pool feel less like a luxury and more like a necessity. In 1958 a company took shape there under Lee Tager to make the things that go around a pool rather than under it, the accessories a family reaches for every week of the season. More than six decades later, Poolmaster is still based in Sacramento and still in that business, down to the little floating dispensers that bob in the corner and keep chlorine steady while everyone is at work.
Poolmaster was founded in Sacramento in 1958, and Lee Tager led it as president from that first year onward. That kind of continuity is rare in any industry. Tager remained owner and president for more than half a century, and in 2013 he moved to chairman of the board while longtime vice president Nora Davis, a veteran of more than 30 years in the industry, was promoted to president.
Over the decades Poolmaster grew into a manufacturer of aftermarket pool and spa products sold to wholesalers, retailers and specialty stores around the world. Its catalog is organized into six product lines: maintenance, floats, inflatables, games and toys, swim and dive gear, and backyard and decor. Alongside the Poolmaster name it markets brands such as Aqua Fun, Learn-To-Swim, Pool Kids, Active Xtreme and Waterpop, plus licensed products including NBA-branded pool games. It has also partnered with other recognized names, launching a Stanley PoolTec maintenance line in 2013.
A floating dispenser is one of the simplest tools in pool care. Slow-dissolving chlorine or bromine tablets go inside a vented chamber, the dispenser floats on the surface, and water flowing through the vents dissolves the tablets a little at a time. An adjustable collar or ring opens or closes the vents to control how fast that happens, so the owner can match the feed rate to the size of the pool, the season and the bather load. It is not a replacement for testing, but it keeps a steady trickle of sanitizer in the water between visits.
Shape matters more than it seems. A floater that rides low and steady in the water dissolves its tablets evenly, while a playful duck or alligator shape makes the dispenser easy to spot and easy to fish out before the family goes in for a swim.
Poolmaster makes maintenance tools, chemical dispensers, test equipment, floats, games and swim gear for residential pools and spas. HVAC365 carries its floating chlorine dispensers:
They belong to our broader filters and sanitizers range.

Tablets sit inside a vented floating chamber, and water passing through the vents slowly dissolves them. An adjustable ring opens or closes the vents to control how much chlorine is released.
