Rheem 2 Ton 24,000 BTU Heat Pump Condenser R454B - Up to 17 SEER2

The Rheem RD16AY24AJVCA is a 2-ton Endeavor Line Prestige Series heat pump outdoor unit with a variable-speed inverter scroll compressor. It runs on R-454B, the lower global-warming-potential refrigerant required for new U.S. residential systems, and it is rated in the 17 SEER2 class when installed with a matched indoor unit.

Matching and efficiency

Rated efficiency depends on the indoor unit it is paired with. For the certified SEER2 and HSPF2 numbers, pair it with a Rheem air handler or coil listed for this model in the AHRI directory. HVAC365 also sells this outdoor unit as part of ready-matched split systems with the AHRI reference listed.

Installation

The outdoor unit needs its own electrical circuit and disconnect sized to the rating plate, a level pad, and a refrigerant line set matched to its connection sizes. Because R-454B is a mildly flammable (A2L) refrigerant, installation and service require a licensed HVAC technician using A2L-rated tools, which also keeps the manufacturer warranty in force.
