Grandaire 2.5 Ton Heat Pump Split System: W5H5S30AKAAA + FMA5L3000AL
This system pairs the Grandaire W5H5S30AKAAA heat pump with the FMA5L3000AL wall-hung fan coil. It is an AHRI-matched combination (AHRI reference 214424161), so the efficiency numbers below were certified for these two exact models working together. Both units are built for R-454B refrigerant and ship with factory TXV metering at the indoor coil.

The W5H5S30AKAAA is a single-stage, 2.5-ton heat pump with a scroll compressor, suction line accumulator, loss-of-charge switch and front-seating service valves. It cools in summer and reverses in winter to move heat into the home, which covers most of the heating season in warm and mixed climates.

Air handler: Grandaire FMA5L3000AL
The FMA5L3000AL is a wall-hung, upflow-only fan coil made for apartment and condo closets. It fits between standard stud spacing, takes return air through the front, and keeps every service point at the front of the cabinet. A three-speed PSC blower (1/3 HP, about 1,130 CFM nominal) rides on rubber grommets for quieter operation, the coil is all aluminum, and a leak detection system is built in for R-454B. It must be installed in conditioned space. Cabinet size: 39-1/2 x 22 x 19 in. (H x W x D), 106 lb.
Electric heat
Heat strips are not included. For backup and defrost heat, choose a heater kit from the "Add an Electric Heat Strip" option above. Approved kits for this air handler: 5 kW (EHK205B), 7.5 kW (EHK208B), 10 kW (EHK210B). Ratings are at 240V; output is about 75% of that on a 208V supply.
Sizing and installation
Size the system from a Manual J load calculation rather than the size of the old unit. The FMA5L is upflow only and must stay inside conditioned space. Line sets over 15 ft need a charge adjustment (0.60 oz per foot on 3/8 in. liquid line), and the installer should evacuate, leak test and commission the system to the manufacturer's procedures, which also keeps the warranty in force.
