Description
Sunstar SGL50 Glass Patio Heater | Natural Gas | SGL50-N7
The Sunstar SGL50-N7 is a 50,000 BTU/hr two-stage infrared patio heater built around a tinted ceramic glass face. Instead of a bright red tube or an open flame, guests see a low-profile black heater with a warm glow behind the glass, and they feel radiant heat that warms people and tables directly rather than the air around them. That makes it a strong fit for restaurant patios, rooftop bars, hotel terraces, covered lanais and residential outdoor kitchens where looks matter as much as warmth.
Two-stage operation runs the heater at 34,000 BTU/hr on cool evenings and steps up to 50,000 BTU/hr when the wind picks up or the temperature drops. This N7/L7 model is controlled by a wall switch, a two-stage thermostat, the 60-minute timer controller or an add-on remote kit, all offered in the dropdowns above. Direct spark ignition with a separate flame sensor means there is no standing pilot to blow out.
Key Features
- Two-stage 50,000 / 34,000 BTU/hr high-low fire on natural gas
- Tinted 4 mm ceramic glass face over a stainless burner for a clean, finished look
- Runs from a wall switch, thermostat or add-on remote kit
- Mounts at 0° to 60° from ceilings, walls, columns, poles or threaded rod
Heating Coverage & Mounting
Each heater covers about 8' x 10' in a breezy spot, 10' x 12' in moderate wind, and up to 12' x 14' in a well-protected area (5-10°F comfort rise). Recommended mounting heights are 9'-12' horizontal, 8.5'-11' at up to 30°, 8'-10' at 30°-60°. Radiant output drops as the heater is angled (about 13% at 30° and 50% at 60°), so mount it as close to horizontal as the space allows. Larger seating areas use multiple heaters.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the N7/L7 and N10/L10 models?
Both use the same two-stage valve. N10/L10 models add the factory remote and a High/Low/Off switch; N7/L7 models are controlled by a switch, thermostat, timer or an add-on remote kit.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes. It is approved for outdoor patio use and as a high-intensity infrared heater for commercial and industrial spaces, provided indoor ventilation (204 CFM minimum) and clearances are met.
How much wind can it handle?
The sealed glass design keeps working in breezy conditions. Expect a smaller warm zone in steady wind and use side or wall mounting to block prevailing breezes.
Can I convert it to the other gas?
Yes, with the matching Sunstar SGL50 gas conversion kit installed by a qualified technician.
