The Brand Story
Superior Pump: A Minnesota Sales Shop That Learned to Move Water
In 1999, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Chip Michel started a business selling pumps. The work was unglamorous and essential: getting water out of basements, off pool covers and out of places it was never supposed to be. The company became Michel Sales Co., and the name on its pumps became Superior Pump.
Chapter 1 · 1999 to today
From Saint Paul to an Italian family
Superior Pump designs and markets residential and commercial water pumps and systems from its base in Saint Paul, with a strong direct presence across North America. Its range covers sump pumps, utility pumps and transfer pumps sold through hardware, farm and pool supply channels. In 2022 the Pedrollo Group, an Italian family-owned water pump maker founded in 1974, acquired a majority share of the company, pairing a North American brand with a European manufacturing family.
The Lineup
What HVAC365 carries from Superior Pump
HVAC365 carries Superior Pump in our cover, pond and sump pumps category, including a 1/2 horsepower, 120V stainless steel utility pump with a 25-foot cord, rated for about 93 gallons per minute and up to 30 feet of head. A submersible utility pump like this is the tool for draining a pool or spa for repairs, clearing rainwater off a winter cover or emptying a flooded equipment pit. Stainless steel construction stands up to the chlorinated and salt water found around pools. See our pool pumps section for circulation pumps.
