Description
Product Summary
The Bohn BCH0009MBACYA0200 is a 3/4 HP medium-temperature, air-cooled outdoor condensing unit from Bohn's 1/2–6 HP Horizontal Air Discharge line. It runs a Copeland scroll compressor (YB08KAE) on 208-230V single-phase power and is sized for small walk-in coolers, reach-in back rooms and other cooler boxes that hold product above freezing.
This is the A2L/A1 dual-refrigerant version, so it is approved for the newer low-GWP refrigerants (R-454A, R-454C, R-455A) as well as the common HFCs. It ships with factory option package A0200, which adds a defrost timer wired for electric-defrost evaporators.
Out of the box you get a microchannel condenser coil, receiver with fusible plug, sealed liquid line drier, sight glass, liquid and suction service valves, a crankcase heater, a fixed high-pressure control, an adjustable low-pressure control and a head pressure control valve.

Frequently Asked Questions
What refrigerants can I use with the BCH0009MBACYA0200?
Heatcraft rates this A2L/A1 model for R-454A, R-454C and R-455A, and for R-404A, R-507A, R-448A, R-449A, R-407A, R-407C and R-407F. Match the refrigerant to the evaporator and expansion valve on the system. When you charge with an A2L refrigerant, follow the A2L installation and leak-detection rules in your local code.
How much refrigeration does it produce?
At +25°F suction and 90°F outdoor air it delivers about 10,320 BTU/h on R-404A, 9,870 BTU/h on R-448A and 10,270 BTU/h on R-454A. Capacity drops as suction temperature goes down or outdoor temperature goes up, so size the system for your hottest design day.
What does option package A0200 add?
A0200 is Bohn's factory "Timer-Elec" package, a defrost timer wired to run an electric-defrost evaporator. Heatcraft rates the unit for up to 5 A of evaporator fans and 15 A of defrost heaters wired through it. Larger evaporators need their own defrost contactor.
What power does it need?
It needs a 208-230V single-phase, 60 Hz circuit. With the evaporator's fans and defrost heaters wired through the unit, Heatcraft lists 20 A minimum circuit ampacity and 20 A maximum overcurrent protection. Wired for air defrost or a remote controller, both drop to 15 A. Always follow the nameplate and local electrical code.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Yes. The H in BCH means outdoor horizontal air discharge. The painted steel cabinet sits on a 1-1/2 in steel base, and the crankcase heater is standard for outdoor installs. Leave clear airflow around the coil so the unit isn't pulling in its own hot discharge air.
