Friedrich Breeze Select 2 Ton Heat Pump Split System: WFPU17Y243D + WFH24Y193D
This system pairs the Friedrich Breeze Select WFPU17Y243D side-discharge inverter heat pump with the matched WFH24Y193D multi-position air handler. It is an AHRI-matched combination (AHRI reference 216776404), so the 18 SEER2, 10 EER2 and 9 HSPF2 ratings were certified for these two exact models working together. The Precision Inverter compressor ramps between 6,000-24,600 BTU/h instead of cycling on and off, which keeps room temperature steady, pulls more moisture out of the air in humid weather and keeps start-ups soft and quiet.
The outdoor unit is a compact side-discharge cabinet, roughly 40% smaller in footprint than a traditional top-discharge condenser, so it fits narrow side yards, balconies and tight pads where a full-size condenser will not. It heats down to -22°F in heat pump mode, cools in outdoor temperatures as low as 5°F, and has a built-in base pan heater to keep the coil drain clear in freezing weather. This size is ENERGY STAR certified for cold climates.

Electric heat
No heat strip is included with this system. If you want auxiliary or emergency electric heat, choose one from the Add an Electric Heat Strip option above. These are the Friedrich kits approved for this air handler: Friedrich AUX5KWA (5 kW), AUX7KWA (7 kW) and AUX10KWA (10 kW).
Thermostat
The Breeze air handler uses a conventional 24V thermostat. The matching Friedrich SWRT1B wall thermostat can be added from the Add a Thermostat option above, or you can use a compatible 24V heat pump thermostat you already own.
Sizing and installation
Size the system from a room-by-room load calculation (ACCA Manual J) rather than square footage alone. Climate, insulation, windows and duct condition all change the load, and an oversized system short-cycles and leaves humidity behind.
The outdoor unit and air handler each need their own electrical circuit sized to the rating plate. The refrigerant line set, thermostat, condensate drain, pad and installation materials are sold separately. Because R-454B is a mildly flammable (A2L) refrigerant, installation and service require a licensed HVAC technician using A2L-rated tools and the manufacturer's procedures, which also keeps the warranty in force. Friedrich only guarantees the rated performance when the outdoor unit is paired with a properly installed Friedrich air handler.
