Nature2: Silver, Copper and Less Chlorine in the Water
Every pool owner knows the smell. It is the sharp note of chlorine doing its job, and for decades the only way to keep water clear was to add more of it. Nature2 began from a different idea: let a pair of minerals carry part of the load, so the chlorine can be dialed down. The result is a small cartridge that sits in the plumbing, quietly releasing minerals into the water as it flows past.

Nature2 is a mineral sanitizer from Zodiac Pool Systems, the pool equipment company whose U.S. operation registered the product with the Environmental Protection Agency from Vista, California. The registered cartridge releases silver and copper into the circulating water to help control bacteria and algae.
Nature2 does not replace chlorine. Its label calls for the cartridge to be used alongside a chlorine source, either a chlorine delivery device or an EPA-registered chlorine product maintained at a low level of around 0.5 ppm, far less than many pools run on chlorine alone. The mineral cartridge is replaced on a schedule of every four or six months depending on the model.
Chapter 2 · The system
Fusion, Fusion Soft and the Spa Stick
Over time the Nature2 name grew from a single cartridge into a family. Fusion models combine the mineral cartridge with a chlorine source in a single installation, either a tablet feeder or a cell that produces chlorine. Spa owners got their own version in the Spa Stick, a mineral sanitizer sized for the small volume and high temperature of a hot tub.
