Overview
This Mitsubishi Electric multi-zone heat pump system pairs the MXZ-5D42NL outdoor unit with 3 MLZ-KX 1-way ceiling cassette indoor units for tri-zone heating and cooling. Every indoor unit in this system uses the same mount style, so each room gets matching appearance, airflow and controls. The system runs on 208/230V, 1-phase, 60 Hz power and uses R-454B refrigerant.

- 1 x MLZ-KX12NL (12,000 BTU class MLZ-KX 1-way ceiling cassette)
- 2 x MLZ-KX18NL (18,000 BTU class MLZ-KX 1-way ceiling cassette)
Required grille (sold separately): MLP-449WU for each cassette.
Performance
Non-ducted system ratings for the MXZ-5D42NL: up to 19.3 SEER2, 9.3 EER2 and 9.1 HSPF2, with rated capacities of 40,500 BTU/h cooling and 45,000 BTU/h heating. Connected indoor capacity for this combination totals 48,000 BTU/h class (12K + 18K + 18K). Heating operation is rated down to 6 F outdoor temperature. Final efficiency depends on the exact AHRI-matched combination.
Comfort and Noise
Each zone has its own indoor unit and controller, so occupied rooms can be conditioned independently while unused rooms stay idle. The INVERTER-driven compressor modulates capacity to hold set points closely and reduce on/off cycling. Outdoor sound level is rated at 58 dB(A).
Smart Features
Wi-Fi control through the Mitsubishi Electric Comfort app is available with the optional Wi-Fi interface kit. Each indoor unit supports Mitsubishi Electric wireless or wired controllers for local zone control.
