Description
Rheem 3 Ton Air Conditioner Package Unit (RACBYB036AJT000NA)
The Rheem RACBYB036AJT000NA is an Endeavor Line Classic Series packaged air conditioner. Everything is in one outdoor cabinet: the compressor, both refrigerant coils and the indoor blower. Nothing goes inside the home except the ductwork and the thermostat. Packaged units are a common choice for homes on slabs, manufactured and modular homes, and buildings without space for an indoor air handler.
It provides central cooling, and an electric heat strip can be added if you want electric heat from the same unit.
Cabinet and airflow
This unit uses a dedicated horizontal cabinet, with supply and return connections on the side. It is built for slab installations beside the home where ductwork runs horizontally into a crawlspace or wall. The indoor blower has an ECM constant torque motor, which uses less electricity than an older PSC blower and offers multiple speed taps for matching airflow to the ductwork. Rated airflow is 1,200 CFM.
Electric heat
No heat strip is included. You can add one from the Add an Electric Heat Strip option above. These are the Rheem RXQJ kits listed for this model: RXQJ-C05J (5 kW), RXQJ-C07J (7.5 kW), RXQJ-C10J (10 kW), RXQJ-C15J (15 kW). Larger kits raise the circuit size the unit needs, so check the electrical data on the specification sheet.
Sizing and installation
Size the unit from a load calculation (ACCA Manual J) rather than square footage alone. The unit needs a level pad or roof curb, a dedicated electrical circuit and disconnect, a condensate drain trap, and properly sized supply and return ducts. Because R-454B is a mildly flammable (A2L) refrigerant, installation and service require a licensed HVAC technician, which also keeps the warranty in force.
Common questions
Is a thermostat included?
No. The thermostat, pad or curb, duct transitions and installation materials are sold separately.
Can it go on a roof?
This dedicated horizontal model is intended for ground-level slab installation with horizontal ducts. For rooftop installs with downflow ducts, choose a convertible model.
